Herdwick

Probably everyones favorite sheep! The Herdwick has got to be the cutest British sheep breed ever, with their chunky legs and sweet smile. 

My ode to the lovely Herdwick sheep is needle felted from Jacobs wool and then covered in Herdwick wool ... a very coarse wool which allows the sheep to tolerate the harsh hill conditions they live in.

The legs are wire wrapped in wool to give them strength and allow them to stand firm. The hooves are coated in Felters wax. The eyes are glass and hand painted.

Handmade in Scotland using British wools, a beautiful and versatile fibre that is under used.  An eco friendly option for Christmas.
