Lapwing
Peesie
This Lapwing is almost live size. I created her to celebrate the annual return of these declining wading bird. They return to this area of North east Scotland every year to breed and their return is always a marker for the spring. Lapwings are known as "Peesies" locally because of their call.
They are amazing birds to watch fly, they soar and swoop and they remind me of bats rather than birds.
My Lapwing is needle felted from Jacobs and Shetland wool and is mounted on a varnished Oal plinth
Size: L20cms x H20
My Peesie is on display at the Highland Wildlife Park on Saturday 29th March 2025 as part of an event to promote and inform about our waders, organised by Cairngorms Connect.
{ Unfortunatley I can not be at the event but if you are at the event and buy her please can you show the Purchase Email noticification to either Thijis Claus or one of the event organisers so they can box her up for you and will allow you to take her away with you!}
